"We read to know that we are not alone."

The quote above is from C.S. Lewis in Shadowlands. In some ways your own effectiveness and the effectiveness of your church is a function of what you have read. And I know from experience what I have read has kept me more sane than I would have been otherwise. I know that I am not alone with the thoughts in this blog.
My blog lets me use the gadget to the left of recommended books so I thought I would post the five most influential books I have ever read that fit the theme of this blog. Alright, so there are 8 in my list (I later added a 9th). That's the way it works with influential things. It is difficult to pick. But if you are looking for a way to enhance the effectiveness of your church, to lead it to a new place, and to encourage yourself, you can't go wrong with this list.
They are in no particular order. 6 are from Christian authors with a church orientation. Drucker, the father of modern management, passed away in 2005 at the age of 95, and was a practicing Christian. If you have never read any Drucker, read. Finally, Galbraith on organizational development is simply the best I have read on this topic. So what are you reading?
