It has been awhile since I've logged in here but I am planning to make this a higher priority in the coming weeks and months. After my Germany trip I did have some fruitful work with the churches I mentioned in an earlier post. From there I had to prioritize my church ministry and then had a wonderful "working sabbatical" over the summer of 2009.
One thing making it easier to think about blogging is the snow covering we received here in Minnesota this AM, yes, on Oct. 10th!!
But that has nothing to do with the iceberg. This is an illustration I like to use in my writing and consulting. The idea is that just as most of an iceberg is below the surface, so too much of what it takes to make a church effective is "below the surface", back-room kind of work . The surface level of hands-on life touch ministry must be undergirded by leadership and management infrastructure: vision and strategy developement, vision-casting, organization structure, processes, staffing, human resource policies, facility, financial expertise, funding development, or information technology. What's on the surface is only as stable as what's below the surface. How is your iceberg floating?
